Current status
Future BeMA: Beirut Museum of Art by Amale Andraos and WORKac seen from Damascus Road

From September 28 to 30, 2016 the Jury met in Beirut.

Following months of review and consideration, the Board of Trustees of BeMA: Beirut Museum of Art was pleased to announce in late 2018 the appointment of Lebanese-born architect Amale Andraos and WORKac to design its future building. The team received a Special Mention in the competition 2016. Further results of the competition can be viewed in the results section on this website.

The new museum for Beirut is scheduled to open in 2023.

ProcedureThe competition was organized as an invited two-stage competition. Stage 1 was an an open prequalification procedure. Stage 2 is the design competition.

The design proposals for stage 2 should be submitted anonymously. However, the jury knew the names of the 13 teams as they were published to the public as part of stage 1.
